I have put myself to write you, which we should have done already, but one thing came after another. We have written Jan that we would like to visit him and whether he would like that. Then we waited for his reply first and when that arrived it seemed not a good idea to him first because of the cost and secondly because of the water management of his lands that was not okay. Then B. Oldenburger came and he said that you and he discussed that if we would like to visit you, than that would be alright, but you have given him two letters for us in which we would read about the surcumstances. (?) But they were in his clothes and they were left behind. Now they were lost for almost three weeks and now that we got the letters after all, they tell us nothing. That is why we did not write you before Haaye and I am very sorry for that for time flies. It is a chaotic situation at our place. We are now decided to come and visit you, me, Mother, Roel, Gosse and Willem. Lubbe is drafted (Alex: into military service). Reintje en Haye Oldenburger will when in good health take the boat to Jan at February 25th. How would you feel about us visiting? Mayb we shall wait making preparations untill you can write us back, but it is taking long enough, because the boat is sometimes booked full in advance for a month. We have almost sold the place to Gosse and Lubbe and we cannot work the land and not even look around for another place. Recently I wanted to buy the house and woods, but mother would want it. But now that we are leaving this place and I am sorry for that. Mother would have had it easier and it would suit her. Can you host us at your place or maybe get us someplace to stay? YOu know the ways over there, don't you Haije.

A message has come that brother was doing good, but who did write that we dont know but it would be my wish as well. Are they supported in making some money or are they barely getting through the wintertime. And write back quickly how things are and how you see things you can host us surely the first few days. B, W, O will have to stay for a while and is a police officer, that's why I am not sure whether I can trust him.   Haije immigrated to Grand Rapids after filing a legal change of residence in Netherlands on 16 Feb 1889. Ship passenger list for S.S.P. Caland show Heinrich Postma, age 20, arrived in New York 9 Mar 1889, Dutch emigration records show. Three years later he married Elizabeth Hendricks Pauwels in Grand Rapids on April 23, 1892 and began a family at 919 Wealthy Avenue a major thoroughfare running east from the south side of the Grand Rapids business area. The 1910 U.S. Census record indicates the family lived at 48 Freyling Court in Grand Rapids and that Haije and son, Andrew, did gardening and street work. Haije mainly worked as a landscaper and gardner. After some hardship the family moved to Montana; first, in the Holland settlement in 1912, at 707 South Ninth and then at 1300 West Durston Road in Bozeman, to a farm near Baker Creek south of Belgrade, then on a farm at Jack Creek in Madison County for two years, then on a farm on Nixon Bridge Road northwest of Manhattan. Here, Haije suffered a broken spine when he fell from a hay wagon. He was transported by rail to the hospital in Bozeman but succumbed to pneumonia in ten days. He was buried on his 53rd birthday from the Christian Reformed Church in Manhattan. The hearse bearing the coffin could not be driven through the snow drifting on the road to the cemetery. A bobsled was used to transport the coffin the half-mile to the cemetery. Cost of his funeral was $85.50. A granite monument for the grave was ordered by John Postma on 18 Oct 1926 from Lewistown Marble and Granite Works at a cost of $480 to be installed by 30 May 1927. Lot 4 of the J.B. Whites addition in Grand Rapids for $750 at 7% semi-annual interest with $100 down and $5 per month, recorded by Kent County Register's Office on 7/5/1894.
