DEULING, MR. BENARD H. "BEN" Fremont Age 91, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Friday afternoon, February 5, 2016 from the Newaygo Medical Care Facility in Fremont. He was born on October 7, 1924 in Muskegon, MI to Gerrit and Wilma (Boeskool) Deuling. He was a U.S. Army Veteran of World War II. Ben had been employed in the Maintenance Department at Gerber Products Company for 36 years until his retirement in 1987, he had served on the Board of Directors at the Gerber Federal Credit Union for 20 years, and he had been a private painter, decorator, and carpenter. He was also a long time member of Trinity Christian Reformed Church in Fremont, where he had been the custodian and where he had done a lot of painting.
On March 20, 1947 he married Evelyn L. Frens and she preceded him in death on October 3, 2013. He was also preceded in death by his daughter, Beverly Ann Deuling; son-in-law, Stephen Messier; brothers, Carl and Frederick Deuling; brothers-in-law: Fred Hayes, Gordon and Kenneth Frens; sister-in-law, Marie Hansen; and by a special cousin, Nelvin Harmsen.
Survivors include four children: Linda Burcham of Lansing, MI, Gary (Jaime) Deuling of Fremont, Karen (Randy) O'Neal of Fremont, Brenda Messier of Grand Rapids; eight grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren; one sister, Marian Hayes of Fremont; one brother, Norman (Mary Ann) Deuling of Holton; sisters-in-law: Geraldine Deuling of Newaygo, Joyce Frens of Fremont; brother-in-law, Frank Hansen of Fremont; and by a special cousin, Betty Harmsen of Fremont.
The Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, February 11, 2016 at First Congregational Church of Fremont (714 Hillcrest Drive) with Pastors Ray Dekker and Ron Baker officiating, and where Military Honors will be provided by the U.S. Army National Guard. Visitation will be at the Kroeze-Wolffis Funeral Home from 2-4 and 6-8 PM on Wednesday. Interment will be in the Spring at Sherman Township Cemetery. Suggested Memorial: Blue Lake Public Radio.
